  • The Numero Group announce reissue of obscure Chicago metallers Medusa
  • Rare groove label The Numero Group will explore unusually occult territory in a surprise new reissue. For context, The Numero Group’s most recent acquisition was a rare release from possible Prince collaborators The Lewis Connection. It’s a surprise, then, to see the imprint […]
  • Usher – Numb (Paris & Simo Summer Of Love Remix)
  • As we wait patiently for Paris & Simo’s upcoming release of Time we’ve been graced by their remix of Usher’s Numb, which is available to download off their Facebook page! First having previewed on their ‘Axis Mix’ this massive remix debuted on Dancing Astronaut’s site just the other day. There’s one thing that’s for sure–Usher’s voice is a perfect fit for the house music genre. Hopefully this remix helps Paris & Simo get notice for […]
  • Attaque – Blinded By The Moonlight (feat. Petite Noir)
  • In what I believe to be his strongest work to date, Attaque takes the game to the next level: Blinded By The Moonlight, complete with vocals by Petite Noir, closes the gap between songs and track once and for all. Preceded by atmospheric vocals and an epic intro that Air couldn’t have done better, Blinded […]
  • Ultraista – RLM Gold Dayz (Maribou State Remix)
  • There are so many places a song can take you to, and yet, there are only so many places that you can physically go. I’m talking about getting warped into another reality that doesn’t feel like your own, and suddenly having to live in it. Suddenly, your flexibility to move in and out of said […]
  • Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs – Trouble (Lunice Remix)
  • If there were awards for great remixes, this would take home a few.  It succeeds because it brings together two vital players in the current electronic scene. The two central characters in this remix are Lunice and Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs.  The former is a prolific Canadian beatmaker.  Most recently he paired his style with UK […]
  • Haim — Don’t Save Me (Cyril Hahn Remix)
  • An incredibly delicious blend of aggressive synths, hypnotic strings, fierce rock & roll-esque vocals, and tasteful remix work all around, Don’t Save Me (Cyril Hahn Remix) is a beautiful sonic interpretation of the original by Haim.   Don’t Save Me is about giving “love” your all, or not giving it at all.  It’s really quite simple […]

“Some might say it’s strange for a man to bare his soul the way I do on this album but I wanted to do something that exposed me for who I am even more so than anything I have done with the Drums… I wanted to be as self-indulgent as possible with this album. This is pop done the way I think it should be done.”

  • Once the holidays come around, it’s as though they never leave. All the work days in between feel painfully slow and arduous, and the omnipresent scents of pine and gingerbread are torturing teases. So what’s the perfect Wednesday cure? Spanx, a 90s-era house party and an überinfectious synth pop jam. Thank you, Tegan and Sara. • [Indie Rock] Incan Abraham – Springhouse (Video)
    3:13, via The Music Ninja
  • “Springhouse” is like an exploding kaleidoscope — vibrant, fluid and bursting with colorful, captivating sounds. Take one listen to the track and immediately Incan Abraham‘s musical textures might call to mind the grandeur of Grizzly Bear, the quirkiness of Yeasayer and the wild spirit of Local Natives. These newcomers from Los Angeles recently put out a music video, directed by guitarist Teddy Cafaro along with Jack Johnson, and just yesterday celebrated the release of their EP. • Gabor Szabo – Mizrab

Mizrab from Szabo’s 1966 album Jazz Raga.

Jazz Raga dwells in the no man’s lands between jazz, psych rock, Indian, and Eastern European music. Its track selection includes two standards — “Caravan” and “Summertime” — a smoking cover of the Rolling Stones’ “Paint It Black,” and eight Szabo originals. Allmusic

  • Legowelt
  • Legowelt
  • Clearly, Legowelt (a.k.a. Danny Wolfers) is a bit of an eccentric. For more than a decade, the Dutch producer has been turning out various shades of electronic music, utilizing literally dozens of different monikers in the process. The man works at a remarkably prodigious rate, a pace which incredibly only seems to increase with each passing year. Amidst all the releases—not to mention the countless tracks he posts online that never officially see the light of day—Wolfers somehow manages to not only maintain a true clarity of artistic vision, but also an impeccable level of quality. Dabbling in house, electro, techno, disco, ’80s funk, freestyle, and more, Legowelt can be always be counted upon the celebrate the wonders of vintage synths and drum machines, yet his music never comes off like a rehash or a simple exercise in nostalgia. His latest outburst is The Paranormal Soul, a full-length for the storied Clone imprint. The album dropped last week, so we figured now would be a good time for Wolfers to work a bit of his weird magic on the XLR8R podcast series.

The clear link between early electronic, post-punk, noise and the modern brand of industrial-strength techno has become clearer and clearer over the past few years, thanks in no small part to entities like Sandwell District.
